Hospital Happenings

Location: Bedroom
Mood: sick sick

Well, as many people on FA know, I was sick and in the hospital for a few days earlier this week, this is where I am going to explain a majority of the happenings.

So basically, last Thursday I start to feel weird and couldn't get comfortable. The next day I felt really cold, even after putting on a T-Shirt, a hoodie, a winter jacket and a blanket over me, with the furnace on about 25 degrees Celsius, then suddenly after about an hour, I feel so hot I need to take just about everything I am wearing off.

That is the point I decided to take a nap, and that is also where the fun begins.
When I woke up a few hours later, I had a fever and I could hardly move! It was horrible, and I knew that it had to do with the Abscess I had growing on my neck.
I asked to go to the hospital tomorrow at the time, but it never happened, and I only got worse. Finally, on Saturday night, after calling some hot line and having some doctor on the other side of the phone say I need a lot of liquids and a lot of sleep since I have a Flu, notice I have rashes on my hands and feet, and was the only reason they decided to bring me. At This point I was actually around a day or so from being 6 feet under according to the doctors at my check up a week and a half after this trip.

So 6am the next morning, I am brought to the local hospital, where a few hours later after the doctor there blames my weakness on the Abscess, they finally come and drain most of the Abscess (I later learn they did a half ass job on it and missed a lot of Pus). It was about 5 hours there, and when I try to get up afterward (with my dad's help of course as I couldn't really move by myself in the first place), I find out I can't even stand!
So the next doctor comes in, as the other one's shift ended after dealing with me, and decided to check other things other then my physical appearance like the other doctor that was there did, and realized it was something much worse.

So, I was sent to Ottawa about 40 minutes away from here, to another hospital.
Supposedly the day I was admitted, I was the sickest person they had...first day I was there, they stuck me on IVs of course, did a MRI, X-Rays, cleaned out the rest of the Abscess, got my blood twice and took almost all day to get me up in the Ward upstairs (got there at 9:30, they were waiting for me there since 2pm).

I was put into isolation until they could find out what exactly I had and to what range it may possibly be infectious

At the time, I was up since friday, so I am pretty worn out at this point too, though I didn't feel like it as I couldn't move anyways. After being on the IVs for a while at this point on sunday, I found that late that night (so technically monday morning), I was starting to be able to move by myself again, which was a relief...except I was confined to my bed anyways unless I decided to use the washroom, since they needed to keep me monitored.

They took a bit more blood here and there, and did an ultra sound over the next few days.
The Monday morning, I generally got most of my ability to move back, and only fully when it was Tuesday. Which is when I finally was able to sleep for a few hours.

On Wednesday morning, one of the many doctors (I lost count after the first day) came in and finally told me what was going on.
I have a Staph Infection that was caused by toxins going through my blood, where the root of the evil was the Abscess I had cleaned out on Sunday night. It is also at this point that they take me out of isolation, though they forget to take me off monitoring anyways...was actually at a computer at the time, so it really didn't matter at all.

Finally, later that afternoon, they ask if I want to go home, and of course I say yes.
They take about an hour to come in and discharge me, but at 2:30 on Wednesday, I was finally out of there, feeling much better then I was.

Started on the meds on Thursday..they smell and taste disgusting, like Cat Piss one of my sisters likes to claim. I still have a bit of a sickness, as I get tired easily and have to nap or something, I am pretty sure this is the most I have slept in a long while. I was not sure where else to stick this, but, for a majority of the time I was in the hospital, I had a rather low blood pressure and a mild fever, not to mention a rather strong headache for a majority of the stay. Ick x:

Besides that and the fact I have no appetite, looking at food makes me feel sick, and that I'm *cough* shitting liquids *cough* I'm fine.

Anyways, that there is the hospital report, most of it being unnecessary information. :V
Hard to believe a single Abscess caused all this!

After reading through all this I'm very relieved to hear you got away from there. I had absolutely no clue as to what was going on at the time, until I saw your FA journals.

Having lived through such a hell at the hospital is just.. ergh. Not to mention the hell you went through with your body..

*hugs* Hope this is a one time only!
